[And so he shall! He doesn't live that far, either, so Mikage will be hanging out around the fountain in a couple of minutes.]

[Naoki will come trotting into the plaza a few minutes after Mikage gets there, brightening visibly upon seeing him. He quickens his pace slightly, closing the distance between them.]

Hey!

[Hopefully Naoki's ready for a fabulous brohug, because that's immediately what Mikage is going for.]

Naoki!! It's been forever!

[Action, March 15]

Mikage--

[A surprised exclamation, but then Naoki lifts his hands, laughing, to return the hug. Hugs are awesome, man.] Yeah, it has! It's great to see you.

[He'll cling a bit - he can't help it, it's been so long and a lot has happened - but not uncomfortably so, pulling back after a few moments to grin at Naoki.]

Wow, you look so different! Even more so in person!

[Fine by Naoki-- Really, it's not that often he gets hugged so, and he treats Mikage to a grin in return.]

Don't I? I'm kinda glad to be like this, to be honest with you.

Well, I'm happy if you're happy. [And he is, actually- he's completely thrilled.] So did you just get here? I'm so glad you remember me!

[Naoki beams at that. So nice, Mikage.

At that, though, he pauses and looks sheepish, raising a hand to the back of his neck.] Last week, in fact. I didn't remember everything, at first... But I think I've remembered it all now.

[Well, if not most of it. Parts of his memory are spotty, but he's glad he's remembered those he was close to.]

Yeah, I get what you mean. I had that problem too- they sent me home for a bit, and when I came back everything was all jumbled up in my head. Some people were familiar, but most of them were total strangers to me! It was weird to remember it all bit by bit.

[Naoki looks surprised before he nods.] Yeah. It's like- Having all these pieces but not knowing how they connect. Wandering around the village helped me, though.

[Quite a bit of quiet thinking time and re-familiarising himself to ease the memories back in.]

[fyulong]

At least you showed up here like this. [He gestures to Naoki's now-human body.] I was stuck as a fyulong dragon for like two months! It was a pain, let me tell you.

--eh? [That fluffy cute thing he was before? Naoki gives him a sympathetic look.] Ahh, I can imagine.

Shuri even made me his pet. It was pretty ridiculous for a while.

But you're back to being human now, yeah? [He moves to sling an arm about Mikage's shoulders companionably, jostling him.]

[Mikage laughs easily and nods, responding in kind by winding an arm around Naoki as well.]

Yep! One-hundred-percent human! It feels good.

[No curse, no half-missing soul, no reincarnated form. He had to die for it, but at this point that's- well, mostly okay.]

[Action, March 15]

It does. [For both of them. Even if there's still some of Naoki that isn't entirely so, it's still better than before.] And all the better-- I like being able to talk to you.

[He chuckles.]

So! What've you been up to?

[Action, March 15]

[fyulong]

Haha, me too! Talking, that is. Not much has been going on though, really! Sort of just been getting back into the groove of things now that I'm normal again. Got back in the Brigade, though, and I'm looking after Shuri, so it finally feels sort of normal again.

Is Shuri a friend from your world? [He seems curious-- And then he can't help but think of how he used to do the same. Used to, he thinks almost glumly.]

Yeah, he is. Kind of a childhood friend and kind of not- my family's been his family's servants for generations, so we grew up in the same household.

Really? [Naoki blinks.] Huh.

[Action, March 15]

[fyulong]

Yeah, and now I'm taking care of him again, go figure! It's like my life has come full circle.

[Action, March 15]

Heh-- Well, as long as you're not unhappy with it.

[Action, March 15]

Nah, I don't mind. To be honest, it's been kind of a relief. Looking after him is familiar, so it feels a little bit like home.

You're a good guy, Mikage.

I don't know, it's kind of an investment for the future, too! If I take good care of Shuri, maybe he'll take care of my family when he goes home. My little sister will need a master a lot more gentle than Shuri's dad- she's kind of shy. And my little brother can be a total brat, so Shuri'd need some patience to handle him!

[And it's not like Mikage will be able to do anything about it back there. It's a good trade-off.

...Though he doesn't mind looking after Shuri, either.]
